About James Love - Vernon, BC

James Love lives in Vernon, BC with his wife Janice and their son. James loves to take road trips throughout the Okanagan, Southern BC, and into Washington/Oregon.

James is a West-Side boy from from Saskatoon, SK. He attended Estey Elementary/Mount Royal Collegiate Highschool and was the first child baptised at Mount Royal United Church (Not your typical ultra-liberal United Chuch but a solid Methodist congregation). He also attended Carlton Comprehensive Highschool in Prince Albert, SK where he met his wife to be, Janice Dalgarno.

James earned a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Major Computer Science) in 1987 from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK. Moving to Calgary, AB, he worked for several years in the oil industry and in government as a programmer/analyst. In the early 1990's, at the encouragement of his congregational leadership, James moved to Vancouver and trained to be an ordained minister. In 1998, he graducated with a four year Masters of Divinity at the Vancouver School of Theology. He served several congregations in the lower mainland, including a lovely inter-cultural (Taiwanese/Caucasian) congregation in New Westminster. In 2004, while in good standing, James felt called to leave the United Church of Canada over theological concerns relating to many leaders of the denomination denying the divinity of Jesus (Things eventually got worse in the United Church of Canada with some clergy now openly embracing atheism without consequence). Wanting more time to father his newly arrived adopted son and a break from the chaos of mainline Church ministry, he and Janice moved to Vernon, BC. He taught himself HTML/PHP/MYSQL, started several successful travel tourism websites and a web design company.

James Love took a break from web design for several years to work at UBC-O designing an expansive web portal for research into metis persons in British Columbia. This involved integration of several websites, including a document management program called Knowledge Tree. Extensive use of the Google Map API was used for data express and research purposes. In 2011, James served as the Informatices Office for the temporary Southern BC Census Office for Statistics Canada. Following this, he worked a temporary position as Data Analyst for the Institutional Research Department of Okanagan College in Kelowna, BC.

James is currently looking for interesting IT work in web design and management. His next goals include becoming an expert in Ruby on Rails (web development platform/language)

James Love is husband to Janice, his beloved wife of 24 years. Janice is a theological copy editor, writer, and expert in Children's faith formation. She is an avid cyclist and is participating in the 2012 Ride to Conquor Cancer.

James has recently taken up bicycling and extreme bicycle hill climbing. You can sometimes find him amongst some of the crazy people who bike up Silver Star Mountain on the weekends. He enjoys the beaches in Vernon, BC and is considered an authority on where all the beaches are in Vernon, BC area.
