Processional and Hymn: VU #9 "People Look East"
{Advent Words then the Lighting of the Advent Candles}
Congregational Prayer: O God of Love, Emmanuel, send your
light into our hearts at this time. Help us to be ready for the
time of Christ's appearing. Grant that we may so live in the way
of Jesus, that his love overflows out of our lives in acts of goodness,
justice and peace. Make our worship of You a time in which we celebrate
Your love and, through Your power, are made ready to reflect that
love to the whole world - both today - and forevermore. Amen.

"Of the Father's Love Begotten"
Isaiah (7:14; 9:2-7)
{Isaiah Enters from the back, comes up the center isle and
makes a proclamation from the centre isle}
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign; Look, the young
woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those
who lived in a land of deep darkness -- on them light has shined.
You have multiplied the nation, you have increased its joy; they
rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as people exult when
dividing plunder. For the yoke of their burden, and the bar across
their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor, you have broken as
on the day of Midian. For all the boots of the tramping warriors
and all the garments rolled in blood shall be burned as fuel for
the fire. For a child has been born for us, a son given for us;
authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His authority shall
grow continually, and there shall be endless peace for the throne
of David and his kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice
and with righteousness from this time onward and forevermore. The
zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Head Angel "...the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town called
Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of
the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her
and said, "
Gabriel: "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you. ... Do
not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now
you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you will name
him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest,
and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. He
will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there
will be no end."
Mary: "How can this be, since I am a virgin?"
Gabriel: "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of
the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born
will be holy; he will be called the Son of God."

of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem,
because he was descended from the house and family of David. He
went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who
was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for
her to deliver the child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son
and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because
there was no place for them in the Inn."
